BOVINOL
(Bovine Cartilage)
A Natural Source of Glucosamine
& Chondroitin Sulfate
Bovine Cartilage is a nutritional
supplement that has a history dating back to the fifties. While much recent
publicity has surrounded shark cartilage, bovine sourced cartilage from the
tracheal rings of cattle is known to exhibit many similar attributes.
Studies using bovine cartilage seem to have been undertaken more frequently, over a longer period of time than those using shark cartilage. Cartilage supplements have been used to treat patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis with positive results. Joint problems associated with swelling and stiffness have shown a tendency to decrease with cartilage supplements.
As the body ages, the joints lose the chemical chondroitin sulfate. This is the primary ingredient in bovine cartilage and may explain the improvements. Supplements taken before the onset of symptoms may prevent joint inflammation from occurring. People suffering from some skin disorders have also found that cartilage supplements can help to alleviate many of the symptoms of skin disease. One study quoted 88% of those treated experiencing marked improvement.
By restricting the development of blood vessels (anti-angiogenic), bovine cartilage also decreases pain and inflammation. It can be helpful against the symptoms of arthritis.
Inhibiting Blood Vessel Development
Studies using bovine cartilage have been undertaken more frequently and over a longer period than those using shark cartilage. Cartilage, unlike bone, has no blood vessels. Without the blood supply, many researchers believe cartilage will not develop cancerous tumors. These properties, it is believed, will also work in humans by inhibiting blood vessel development and preventing new tumors from developing or growing.
There are numerous studies demonstrating the effects cartilage supplements have on tumors. They appear to be extra potent, fighting fast-growing tumors that require a good supply of blood for their growth.
Chondroitin & Glucosamine Sulfate for Arthritis
Cartilage supplements have been used to treat patients with severe rheumatoid arthritis with good to excellent results. Joint problems associated with swelling and stiffness have been shown to decrease with cartilage supplements. As the body ages, the joints lose a chemical known as chondroitin sulfate. This is the primary ingredient in any cartilage and may explain the improvements.
Supplements with glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate taken before the onset of symptoms may prevent joint inflammation from occurring.
Psoriasis and Skin Disease
Psoriasis suffers have also found that cartilage supplements can reduce or even eliminate most of the symptoms of this skin disease. In one study 88% of those treated saw marked improvement.
Bovine Cartilage - FAQ
Q - What is Bovine cartilage?
A. It’s full name is Bovine tracheal cartilage (BTC) and it is
made from the trachea of selected beef cattle. Bovine cartilage is the
predecessor and `big brother` to Shark cartilage being in use since the early
fifties and has been antiangiogenic and
anti-inflammatory activities effectively used to treat many conditions
including cancers, tumours ever since. It is
considered to be a non-toxic material has been scientifically demonstrated to
produce and arthritis antimitotic,.
Q - What problems can be treated with Bovine
Cartilage?
A. Inflammatory Joint Disease - BTC has been tested in inflammatory
diseases, such as arthritis, with very promising results. Cartilage is a
natural highly bioavailable source of both chondroitin sulfate and glucosamine
sulfate which have been used successfully in the treatment of inflammatory
joint disease in animals and of rheumatoid arthritis in humans.
Cancer - The use of bovine cartilage powder to treat cancer evolved from
the success of BTC in treating psoriasis. Like psoriasis, cancer is
characterized by the overproliferation of cells.
Research indicates that BTC acts as a biological response modifier, regulating
the activity of important components of the immune system.
Substantial research has been conducted demonstrating the anti-angiogenic effect of bovine cartilage. Angiogenesis is the
process upon which the growth of solid tumors depends. Benchmark studies on antiangiogenesis and its impact on the development of
tumors has resulted in a growing field of research that is regarded by scholars
and the pharmaceutical industry as holding considerable promise for the
treatment of cancer.
Q - How does BTC compare to Shark cartilage?
A. While the experts still have varied views about the differences between
two obviously effective supplements, there are several points of difference
that are clear…
bovine cartilage requires lower dosages than Shark cartilage, which equals
to lower cost and easier dosage compliance. .
